Bugs in the denver96 Software Load
Several bugs have been identified in the current version of the
D2D software. Several have already been fixed - you'll see them
with the July upgrade.
Graphic workstation
- Napping - Occasionally the workstation will not respond to any
mouse inputs. This may last from 15 to 45 seconds after which
all the mouse inputs are executed.
- Four panel - Only the first panels of the first frame load with
the initial request. Also auto update only works reliably for the
first panel.
- Four panel radar - if reflectivity data are missing in a panel,
color table is incorrect.
- VAD graphic - the graphic loads in a portion of the screen and
must be zoomed up.
- SELS watch - Graphic does not work yet. No workaround. (This
has been removed from the menu.)
- LDAD plots - Precipitation reports are truncated and do not
show to hundreths of an inch.
- LDAD plots - Only a few of the CDoT stations show up even
though many more are in the file.
- SAO plots - Some stations only plot part of the time despite the
fact that data for those sites is in the text workstation for the
times when they are missing.
- NCEP 3-5 day guidance - The day 3 graphic does not load
properly.
- Cursor readout - a.) on satellite data readout changes by 8 or
16 degrees as the cursor is moved. Intermediate values are not
displayed. b.) On radar precipitation the values are truncated
only showing whole inches. c.) on higher z/v tilts (4.3 and above)
returned "no data."
- Inventory load - Multiple loads of an NCEP graphic from the
inventory menu infrequently crash the display.
- Interactive skew-T - The program will not load a sounding
that does not have wind data.
- Distance/speed - The program projects movement for one
hour regardless of scale, loop length, etc.
- Radar graphics - do not display correctly and can cause the
screen to crash.
- Missing 88D products - the layer reflectivity maxima and echo
top would not load even though they were on the RPS list.
- Radar pinwheels - On higher tilts (6.0 and above) the data
display incorrectly having a pinwheel look.
- Radar rainfall - Surface total rainfall looked like it was scaled
incorrectly and geographically flipped.N/S.
- Green times/auto update -
- The times in the radar combined z/v menus do not update even
though the time updates in the individual z and v menus.
- On a Z/V load, the V field does not auto-update.
- NOWrad fails to auto-update.
- Green times for CONUS satellite products don't update, but the
displays do. Other scales' menus and the all-images menu appear to be
OK.
- Procedures - Unable to delete a procedure.
- Procedures - A procedure stored on one workstation was not
available on the other.
- LAPS - Some parameters are still not correct and CAPE and
CIN are missing.
Text workstation
- A: doesn't do the same special SAO formatting that ALL: and
000 perform.
- Previous version - does not work if the initial product load
request was only 6 characters i.e. DEN was left off.
- Latest version - if latest version is displayed and a new version
comes in, the "latest" selector doesn't load it.
- The Enter key sometimes doesn't dismiss alert boxes. This
seems to be display-dependent.
- Window title reflects product name of requested product, even
if the load fails.
- Warngen window occasionally doesn't pop up automatically (text
notification server has crashed or wasn't started). Workaround:
Request DENWRKADM from any other window. (Warning expiration reminder
won't work in this case.)
- Warngen window does not automatically go into edit mode.
Workaround: Click edit button to start editing.
- Missing products - Some text products are not being stored yet
and others apparently aren't being sent yet.
- Tab - This key inserts a tab character which is treated as a
single space by word wrap routine and when sent to AFOS.
- Auto scroll - On occasion the text window jumps to the bottom
of the text by itself.
- The first line of text products retrieved from AFOS is deleted
when you enter the editor.
- Editor - While editing, SAOs were inserted at the bottom of the
window. (SAO auto update occurring despite no SAOs in display?).
- Editor - Products sent over from AFOS only have 2 lines of
header information. The editor wipes out 3 lines which cuts off
the first line of the product.
- Editor - Autowrap split words when insertion point was near
the end of the line.
- Missing lines - The FTA and TAF products have only the first line
stored. (This appears to be the case with FWC and other guidance
products from collectives as well.) mAlso there are versions with
blank lines being stored.
- FT display - The TAF products are being stored with the FTA
products instead of in CCCTAFXXX.
