Additional Frame Count for D2D UIWG Meeting Notes Presenter: Xiangbao Jing 30 November 2005 GSD Attendees: Xiangbao Jing, Jim Ramer, Leigh Cheatwood, Woody Roberts, Joe Wakefield, Carl Bullock, Jim Fluke, Joanne Edwards Teleconference Attendees: Mike Masig, Greg Stump, Greg Noonan, Peter Wu, Ed Mandel, Jim Hile, Mike Istok, Eric (Southern Region) Additional Frame Count for D2D ------------------------------ Xiangbao gave a brief overview of the web-material and how he went about creating the menu presented. The following were noted: - The maximum frame count for this go-around is 64. This value has been hard coded. - The maximum frame count is however configurable to accomodate alternate values if desired. In the file ws.config, the following are currently defined: # # Frame count for frame option button: # FrameCount.initialCount: 12 FrameCount.lowCount: 1 FrameCount.highCount: 64 FrameCount.stepBy: 1 Discussion ---------- - Noted that in looking at the example on the presentation materials, that the menu is too long. As you can see, it goes to the bottom of the D2D display. - Suggested that the user not have any pull-right options in the menu, but have the user enter the desired number using the keyboard. This suggestion was nixed as it would be aukward for the user to combine mouse and keyboard. - Suggested that we have displayed in the menu the individual numbers for frames 1 through 12 and for the remaining selections, have pull-right menu options. For example: 13 - 19, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 64. - Suggested that we have two frame count menus for testing and see what works best. This too was nixed. - Suggtest that a slider bar be used to select the number frames. This would put a performance hit on the IGC. As the user slides the IGC is trying to satisfy all the conditions for that particular setting. - Performance impacts - Carl indicated that loading 64 frames of a product takes twice as long as loading 32 frames. User must be aware that loading more frames of a particular product, will require more memory etc. The same needs to be evaluated with running multiple applications, that is, GFE and D2D at the same time and loading many frames of data. - Suggested that another GUI we available to the user from the Options Menu > Display Options. This would cost more $$$. Perhaps in a later build! Action Items ------------ - Decided to have the individual numbers 1 through 12 listed and then have pull-right menus labeled 13 - 19, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59 and 60 - 64. Respectively Submitted, Susan M. Williams
