I'm not sure what was agreed upon concerning the polygon with follow-up products but here's the recommendation suggested by the polygon (storm-based) team:

"The capability shall be provided to reduce the size of the warning polygon. The area removed from the warning polygon shall be described in the cancellation section of the Severe Weather Statement. The remaining original area of the warning polygon shall be contained in the continuation section of the Severe Weather Statement."

Based on the discussion yesterday, I like the idea of keeping the polygon "snapped" to the original shape. If you move the vertices outside the hatched area they will move back to the closest “outer” hatched point, but if you move the vertices inside the hatched area they will remain where they were placed. So in the webpage example, the far northern point and the far eastern vertices would snap back to the corners of the hatched area since they are the closest outer hatched points.

As far the location and motion are concerned, I'm still not completely satisfied with the “location” suggestions. I initially thought we should go back to the old radar observations as a guide - using CELL, LINE, etc but even that may not necessarily accurately describe what is being referenced. The problem is the “Drag me to storm” ball is not always going to be on the item of interest, at the center of the cell, or the most dangerous part of the storm (especially when it’s a line pushing East but the cells are moving North). Therefore, I think we should accurately label what we are trying reference which is the Drag Me To Storm ball – DMTS. This way there’s no confusion on whether it’s the storm centroid, the tornado, or whatever – It’s the Drag Me To Storm ball location.
