In the
AWIPS OB8.3, I added the fourteen products of Dual
Polarization into the OTR, RPS and RMR radar request
applications. The
parameters of the PRE hasn't been defined yet in the
"radarInfoo.txt", the radar products configuration table, therefore
they will be shown up in the upcoming check in. Since a lof
of products have been added in, the GUIs are changed more ever in the
request product menu and the product list text format of the RPS anf
RMR. Let us look on the new product configuration table first.

2. Dual Pol Products in the Menu of OTR, RPS and RMR
OTR and Dual Pol Products Menu
The
Dual Pol products are added into the OTR product menu and every angle
product is with the gui of the multiple elevation selector.

RPS Editor and Product Menu
The
Dual Pol products are added
into the product menu of RPS product editor and every angle
product is with the gui of
the multiple elevation selector. The text format of the RPS list has
been improved. It's more reasonable.

RMR Product Menu and Request List
The
Dual Pol products are added
into the product menu of RMR product editor and every angle
product is with the GUI of
the multiple elevation selector. The text format of the request list
has been improved.

3, Improvement of Text Formats in the Product Lists of RPS and RMR
A selected pararmeter should be displaied in text list if only it is
with multiple options, otherwise, the text will be very long.
STA
format,
"Product Name, levels , resolution"
MRU, TRU, DMD,
ML, and PRE format,
"Product
Name,
elevation"
DUA, USW, USD and
USP format,
"Product Name, time span, end hour"
DAA, HHC, OHA,
DOD, DSD, DPR and
DSA format,
"Product Name"
ZDR, CC, KDP and
HC format
"Product Name,
levels ,
resolution, elevation"
4, Multiple
Elevation Selectors For All Angle WSR-88D Products
The multiple
elevation selector includes,
- Select a
specific elevation angle, this is the default
- Select all elevation angles
- Select all elevations at or below a specified elevation angle
- Select the lowest 'n' elevation angles
All WSR-88D angle products in OTR, RPS and RMR are
with this selector GUI.
5, Design and Implemetation of the DUA Request Time in "hh:mm"
In the USP, USD,
and USW, the time unit of the "time span" and "end time" is in hour only,
in the DUA is "HH:MM". In the radar application GUI, the time can be
selected in hour and minute. For keeping the code changing in minimum
and interface in simple, the application converts the "HH:MM" into
minutes, passes the time to lower level(like ProductRequestEntry)
as specified in the new ICD of 10/30/2007, with "time span" 15
~1440 minutes and "end time" -1 ~1440 minutes. The cost is expensive,
but the it allows the forcastor select those times in minute providing more flexibility, see the heavy
rain over a time span which a) isn't necessarily a time span of whole
hours and b) they can request a product which isn't in their AWIPS
database(a good reason from Mark email). The capabilities in the RMR, RPS and OTR radar request applications are,
- The "end time" can be as selected in hours 0~23 and in minutes 0~59, or Latest(most recent) -1;
- The " time span" can be as selected in hours 0~23 and in minutes 0~59, or 15~59 with 0 hour;
- In the RPS, the "end time" is allway as Latest, no select GUI for it, with " time span" only;
- Repeat request in the RMR is same as in RPS, keep the "end time" is allway as Latest;
- In OTR and sigle request in the RMR, both "end time" and " time span" are availible;
- For the USP, USD and USW in all applications, the "end time" and " time span" are still in hour.
Let us see some screen shots of the new GUIs,
A) DUA vs USP in Product Editor of OTR
The "end time" "time span" in the OTR, is with "HH:MM" GUI for the DUA, but hour only for USP.

B) DUA in RPS
There "end time" is allways as latest, so no "end time" in the product list.

C) DUA Product Editor in Single Request Case of RMR
As in OTR, both the "end time" and "time span" are in the "HH:MM" format for RMR single request.

D) DUA Product Editor in Multiple Request Case of RMR
As
in RPS, the "end time" is allways as latest, only the "time
span" in the product editor GUI for the RMR repeat request.
