2.1.6.10 kxxx
This site-specific menu gives you access to Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) derived and graphic products, the radar four-panel product, and storm relative motion and spectrum width products. Derived products include Storm Total Precipitation and Layer Reflectivity products displayed on the State or WFO scales. Also included in the menu are the new High Resolution 8-bit Reflectivity and Velocity products. Refer to Exhibit 2.1.6.10-1 at right for a display of this menu.

The kxxx menu is divided into the following categories.

- Composite Reflectivity (CZ) and VIL/Composite Reflectivity: Basic radar composites are listed in this first section.

- Z/SRM Combinations and Z/V Combinations: The radar combination products Z/SRM and Z/V are precombined formats of the reflectivity and storm relative motion or velocity, displayed together via a single menu selection. SRM products include the storm motion vector information, which is plotted in the upper left corner of the Display Pane.

- Radar Products: This section of the kxxx Menu provides access to the four-panel radar data displays, individual reflectivity or velocity displays, including the new 8-bit data, and many other derived and graphical radar products.

The kxxx Four Panel Submenu includes menu entries for Z/V, Z/SRM, and some other combinations that are presented in 4-panel mode, with a different elevation angle or product in each panel.

- Derived Products: The Derived products submenu includes Precipitation, Layer Reflectivity, Cross section, and other products displayed on the State or WFO scales.

- Graphics Products: Included in the Graphics products submenu are Storm Track (STI), Hail Index (HI), and Tornadic Vortex Signature (TVS) Products, all of whose display attributes can be adjusted with the Icon Graphics Controls dialog; Velocity Azimuth Display (VAD and VWP) Products; Mesocyclone (M); plus 1- and 4-km Composite Products and others.

- Severe Weather Analysis: The radar data available in this section are typically used in analyzing severe weather.

- Applications: This section provides access to the One Time Request and RPS List Editor applications. These are discussed in Chapter 7 Radar Applications.
