3.2.2. "Specify" Pull-Down Menus in Product Maker

This first step in creating a new product requires you to choose the field(s), source(s), and dimension(s) of the desired new product from the Specify (top) Section of the Product Maker.

Field: This pull-down menu contains three cascading menus from which to choose basic fields.

- threeD: This choice is for three-dimensional fields. See Exhibit 3.2.2-1.

- twoD: This choice is for two-dimensional fields. See Exhibit 3.2.2-2.

Note: Not available at all scales.

- macro: Contains user-defined macros that have been saved. Refer to Exhibit 3.2.2-3.

Source: The Source pull-down menu is shown in Exhibit 3.2.2-4 and contains the names of NCEP Models from which grid point data are obtained to generate the new products.

This menu is a function of the scale that is chosen on the D2D Toolbar, so there are some models that are available only on certain scales. This menu also provides access to "Previous Model Runs," as shown at the bottom of Exhibit 3.2.2-4.

Longitude: The Longitude pull-down menu, shown in Exhibit 3.2.2-5, contains the longitudinal coordinates that specify the east-west location of your new product.

Latitude: The Latitude pull-down menu, shown in Exhibit 3.2.2-6, contains the latitudinal coordinates that specify the north-south location of your new product.

Level: The Level pull-down menu, shown in Exhibits 3.2.2-7 and 3.2.2-8, contains two cascading menus with the pressure and theta levels that specify the vertical location of your new product.

Time: The Time pull-down menu, shown in Exhibit 3.2.2-9, contains the time intervals that specify the valid time of your new product.

Note: Items in all the previously mentioned Product Maker menus that have an asterisk (*) in the label contain all available values of the given coordinate. For example, if you choose the *_Hr item from the Time pull-down menu, you are specifying that all available time intervals should be included in your new product.

Define Macro: This entry box allows you to save an equation or mathematical term with a specified name. You must use alphanumeric characters only (spaces are not allowed).

After typing the name in the entry box, press the Return keyboard key to save your equation or term. Your newly created product can be found in the Macro cascading menu under the Field pull-down menu.

Constant: Constant is a entry box that provides a space to type in a numerical constant.

Degree/Radian: This menu button toggles between degrees and radians.

Stack Functions: In the Stack area of the Product Maker, there are six lines or registers labeled "r0" through "r5" for scalar fields, and "x0, y0" through "x2, y2" for vector fields. Also in the Stack area, there are several menu buttons for controlling the terms that are entered in the Stack Registers.
