This area of the Radar Multiple Request Dialog Box contains a tree-view listing of the radar product requests that are currently running. There are several options in this dialog box.
• Cancel: The Cancel menu button deactivates the highlighted active request. This button to disabled if a request is not selected in the Active Requests Tree View.
• RMR Queue Status Area: This section of the main window (refer back to Exhibit 7.4-1) contains the colored indicator showing the status of the RMR queue, as well as two percentage readouts that display the capacity at which the RMR queue is currently running. Normally, the RMR queue is green. If the RMR queue is overloaded, the colored indicator is red. This means that the requests that are currently active may not be fulfilled in a timely manner, and that a backlog may occur. If it is flashing red, that means that a request was just added and that the RMR queue is overloaded. The light flashes red for a few seconds before changing to a steady red. If it is green, this means that the RMR queue is not overloaded.
The percentage readouts indicate at what capacity the RMR queue is operating. For the dial-out RPGs, the operating capacity is determined by calculating how many dial-out RPGs have to be contacted for each product from each request. This calculated number is expressed as a percentage of the safe maximum dial-out RPG capacity, i.e., the maximum number that may be used without creating a backlog. If the calculated number exceeds the safe maximum, the percentage is over 100%. Otherwise, the percentage is at or under this amount. The same calculations apply to the dedicated RPG percentage readout.
These percentage readouts allow the user to see at a glance whether dial-out or dedicated (or both) RPG product requests may end up being backlogged. If either is over 100 percent, the colored indicator will be red instead of green. To bring the percentages down to the safe maximum of 100 percent, cancel one or more requests in the Active Requests Tree View. Notice how the percentages decrease as the requests are canceled.
