EMDSSuite

for the

LDAD Rapid Prototyping Project

sponsored by

National Weather Service and the Forecast Systems Laboratory

Statement of Purpose

The National Weather Service has created a new project called Rapid Prototyping Project (RPP) in order to speed up implementation of the end state Emergency Management Decision Support System.  The RPP is intended to provide a direct conduit between website administraters, emergency managers, and developers through rapid turnaround of software. The RPP will concentrate on three major areas:  improved interactive tools, improved performance, and additional product definition.

This web site concentrates on the EMDSSuite portion of LDAD.  The EMDSSuite provides the external community interface to the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS).  It is integrated into AWIPS as part of LDAD.  EMDSSuite consists of an EMDS Display, a map clipper, a synchronizer, and a configurator to provide emergency managers with real-time weather information upon which to make decisions.
